If you’ve visited my blog before, you know I love trying restaurants at WDW. There are so many delicious options to enjoy. But, when visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, most people think they have to leave when it comes to dinner time.
Since it’s considered just a half a day park, people think that sit-down options are very few and aren’t worth the visit. I’m here to tell you that’s not true. There’s a secret hidden gem of a restaurant tucked away in the Asia section of the park that offers some amazing food at a great deal.
That’s right, we’re talking about Yak & Yeti Restaurant. Given that the options for restaurants are scarce at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, reservations tend to go quickly but if you know a few hacks, you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious dinner here.
Location

Yak & Yeti Restaurant is located inside of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. With that said, guests are required to have a valid theme park ticket to enjoy a meal in this restaurant. You can find Yak & Yeti Restaurant right over the bridge from the Adventurers Outpost (the Mickey & Minnie Meet and Green Building) on Discovery Island.
Our best directions to get you there: if you are facing the Tree of Life, head towards the right side of the tree and take the bridge into the Asia section. The first thing you’ll see after you cross the bridge is Yak & Yeti Restaurant, it’s that simple. It’s also located near the popular, Expedition Everest, so if you are a little lost, just look for that attraction.
Vibe

Yak & Yeti Restaurant was themed after a village home that has been transformed into a restaurant. With vibes from Nepal, you’ll find a collection of artifacts around the restaurant that have influences from Southeast Asia. Guests love the eclectic decor that starts in the restaurant’s lobby and is brought through the whole restaurant.

Yak & Yeti Restaurant is a two-story establishment, so you can be seated either downstairs or upstairs. I’ve eaten on both the upper level of the restaurant and lower level. Both offer unique scenery to guests.
The Menu

Given that Yak & Yeti is located inside of the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you’ll notice that the menu reflects that. Appetizers at the restaurant include the Bang Bang Calamari, Firecracker Shrimp and Pork Pot Stickers. As for main dishes, guests can choose from salads, noodles, bowls, specialties and woks. But, the delicious food doesn’t end there, main dishes also include the BBQ Ribs, Hibachi Steak & Shrimp and the Teriyaki Chicken. If you can make it to dessert without being stuffed, their most popular dessert is the Fried Wontons. If you’d like to see the full menu from Yak & Yeti, visit this website.
Yak & Yeti Restaurant also offers a variety of specialty drinks to choose from depending on your taste. These drinks are on theme and range from the Yak Attack, which is a daiquiri, to the South Seas Traveler, with a variety of rums.
Our Experience
Our table was located upstairs in the restaurant in the small room in the back. It was private enough that we didn’t feel stuffed in with other guests, which was great. When we had a chance to review the menu, we placed our drink orders.

I ordered the Big Bamboo drink, which features Don Q Coconut Rum, Don Q Cristal Rum, Banana Liqueur and Tropical Fruit Juices. The drink was delicious and quite dangerous, since you couldn’t taste the alcohol. Other members of my party ordered the Opici Family Red Sangria and really enjoyed the drink.

After the drinks, we ordered some appetizers for the table. We chose the Bang Bang Calamari, which was a crispy battered medley of calamari and vegetables. We also selected the Steamed Pork Pot Stickers. The Calamari was crispy and not fishy at all. The Pork Pot Stickers had a really nice taste that was enjoyed by all. Both appetizers were delicious and were a nice size for our party of three.

Then we move to our main entrees. One person in my party ordered the Miso Salmon which came with a Coconut-Ginger Rice and Fried Vegetables. I tried a piece of this dish and I must say, it was delicious. The salmon had a really nice glaze and paired really well with the other sides. The person who ordered it really enjoyed it as well and mentioned it as a standout from the whole trip.

Me and another person in my party ordered the Hibachi Steak and Shrimp. This meal does come with vegetables and jasmine rice, but I substituted both for some Chicken Fried Rice. At this point, Yak & Yeti Restaurant showed its true colors and I was beyond impressed. Both of us ordered our steaks well-done but were given a steak with some pink. They took our steaks away to be cooked more and our side dishes. I ate that and my shrimp while I waited and was finished with them before I received my steak back. When the waiter came back with the steak, they brought all new plates with more sides and more shrimp. Even though I was getting quite full, the fact that they brought new plates showed that they really cared about our experience. The food was delicious! The steak melted in my mouth when I ate it and had a great flavor from the teriyaki. The shrimps and the chicken fried rice were also delicious and definitely worth a try.
We had no room for dessert at this point but I saw some desserts brought to tables and they all looked really good.
Pricing
Yak & Yeti Restaurant pricing is quite reasonable in the scheme of other WDW restaurants. If you are looking for a meal that’s affordable but where your getting a nice portion of food, you should consider a visit here.
