One thing that a lot of people don’t think about when they visit Nashville is actually leaving Nashville. I know, I know it sounds crazy! But, what if I told you that there was an amazing tour that can take you to a quaint Tennessee town and offer some delicious drinks? Sounds pretty good right?
That’s where Mint Julep’s Jack Daniel’s Distillery Tour, Tasting and Lynchburg Visit comes in? While it’s not a visit a ton of people talk about, it is a great day that allows you to explore more of Tennessee.
The Tour: Mint Julep Experiences- Jack Daniel’s Distillery Tour, Tasting and Lynchburg Visit

On Viator, I booked the Jack Daniel’s Distillery Tour, Tasting and Lynchburg Visit operated by Mint Julep Experiences. This tour was approximately $125 per person, which includes the transfer from Nashville to Lynchburg (and back) and admission to the Jack Daniel’s Distillery.
If you book the morning tour (10am pick-up), you will also have time to visit the town of Lynchburg for shopping or having some lunch. You do get about an hour and a half to explore the town of Lynchburg.
If booking through Viator, you can see this tour has a 4.9/5 star rating, is recommended by 97% of travelers and has a Badge of Excellence from Viator.
Meet Up Spot: Omni Nashville

For this tour, the meet-up spot was the Omni Nashville, located in the heart of Nashville, near the Music City Center. Meet-up for this tour was very easy. Our guide, Bob H, texted the day prior with where to check-in and when. He also checked-in the morning to confirm pick-up again and then once the bus had arrived at the meeting spot.
The Omni Nashville is connected to the Country Music Hall of Fame and has a hallway near the check-in spot with bathrooms, just in case you need them before your tour.

You’ll find the Mint Julep bus parked on the side street of the Omni Nashville, on Rep. John Lewis Way S. You’ll know it’s your tour since the bus will say Mint Julep.

The morning of my tour, we walked over to the Omni Nashville to see if we could get breakfast at the hotel. Unfortunately, Kitchen Notes, the restaurant in the Omni was too busy for us to wait so we walked over to The Diner Nashville, on 3rd Avenue. It’s a 6 minute walk from your pick-up spot and was very convenient.
The Drive: To Lynchburg & Back

The drive from downtown Nashville to Lynchburg is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. During the drive, you’ll encounter countryside, animals and small towns. During the drive, our tour guide Bob was great about providing history about the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, Nashville and just Tennessee as a whole. Unfortunately, we had some bus mates that were quite rude to Bob and his information. But, he handled it like a pro! Bob, if you’re reading this, my family and I loved hearing all of the fantastic information you shared. Keep up that great work!
The bus was comfortable with air conditioning and onboard they provided a water cooler with ice as well. This made the drive go very fast and made the tour extremely comfortable.
Arrival & Time: Town of Lynchburg

Upon arrival in the town of Lynchburg, you’re given about an hour and half to explore the town, go shopping or even eat lunch. Bob informed the tour that while at the distillery you actually can’t buy merchandise other than alcohol. Therefore, there is a hardware store in the town that serves as the official Jack Daniels merchandise store. This is your chance to buy things so if you think you’ll wait for later, that doesn’t happen. If you shop at the hardware store, don’t forget your free shot glass if you buy something!

In addition to the official Jack Daniel’s merchandise, there are many small shops selling similar items. You can also find a Moon Pie Outlet store as well as the Lynchburg Soap Company. They handmake all the soaps that they sell in the store. They all smell fantastic and I definitely made a purchase.
There are also plenty of places to eat in Lynchburg including Mary Bobo’s and Barrelhouse BBQ. Bob, our tour guide, gave us all his recommendations before we disembarked the bus.
The Tour: Jack Daniel’s

Once we arrived at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery we were given our tickets and everyone had to have their ID’s checked. You are also asked at this point if you’d like a tour drink, a $10 frozen Jack and Coke or frozen lemonade and Jack. You are given an opportunity to purchase at the redemption site later on. The lemonade with blackberry Jack was delicious!

Our tour guide at the distillery was Amanda. She did a great job of showing us all the areas at the distillery, taking photos of everyone in different spots and keeping the tour exciting and fun! There are some spots in the tour in which you can’t take photos or videos because of the alcohol vapors but Amanda made sure everyone knew when they were allowed to take photos again.

Towards the end of the tour, we were brought to the tasting room where we were given a sample of 6 different Jack Daniels products to try with a bottle of water.

Overall, I think the tour was fantastic! Whether you love Jack Daniels or have never tried it before, this tour did a great job of not only getting you to try the Jack Daniel’s product but also of understanding the history behind this iconic brand.

Things to Remember…

Some things to remember when booking this tour for your Nashville trip:
- Wear closed toe shoes! We had a few people on our tour that didn’t follow this rule but documentation does state closed toe shoes so I would just go with that.
- Make sure to tip your tour guide! It’s important not to forget to tip your tour guide on your visit. They work hard to make sure you have a safe and comfortable trip that is interesting and fun.
- Arrive 15 minutes early! While the tour did start at 10am, if everyone arrives a bit earlier, the tour will depart earlier as well, giving you extra time to explore.
- You don’t have to be a drinker to love this tour! There is so much history provided on this tour that you don’t have to be a big drinker or a drinker at all to appreciate it!
