Dining Review: Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’

Disney Springs (the old Downtown Disney) has recently received a makeover. And with that, there has been a slew of new restaurants and stores popping up. One restaurant that is relatively new that I checked out during my trip was Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, located on The Landing at Disney Springs.

When you enter the restaurant you see the large open dining room that is decorated with wood accents and a home-style feel. Once seated, we were given the extensive menu which featured drinks and food. Our waiter Giuseppe was friendly, didn’t rush us out and helped to make our experience great. Our waiter explained that Chef Art Smith used to be Oprah’s personal chef and is an alum of the Disney College Program, which I thought was awesome.

On the “Disney Dining Plan” (click here for more info), you are entitled to one beverage (alcoholic if you are over 21 and non-alcoholic if you are under 21), an entree and dessert.

Rumshine Punch

First up was the beverages. There was honestly so many different drinks to choose from but I ended up going with the Rumshine Punch, which was Strawberry Rumshine, Blackberry Brandy, Banana Liqueur, Pineapple Juice and House Made Grenadine. Definitely recommend- it was really good. This drink is one of a few moonshine drinks that is on tap here at Homecomin’. There is also a Moonshine Margarita and Sweet Tea Shine on tap.

Chopped Pork Plate

Onto the entree. There were a bunch of different choices to choose from for dinner. Chef Art Smith is known for his fried chicken, which another member of my party ordered and loved. I ended up going with the Chopped Pork Barbecue Plate that came with Momma’s Mac and Cheese. 🙂 Can we just talk about this meal? I think I was in heaven. The pork was delicious, the mac and cheese was amazing and the cheese biscuit, I mean how can you really go wrong? This meal was probably one of my favorites during our trip. We didn’t deviate our sides from what was on the menu, but I believe that’s an option. For example, the Fried Chicken comes with mashed potatoes, but from the impression the waiter gave, I think you are able to get the Momma’s Mac and Cheese instead if you wanted- just ask your server, they are really nice!

And if all that food wasn’t enough, it’s time for dessert. Everyone in my party ordered something different. One person had the Hummingbird Cake, one had the Key Lime Pie (which they don’t put on the menu, but just ask) and I had the Doughnuts. Once again, high praises on everything. Those doughnuts are really, really good. They have sugar dusted on top….. Are you salivating yet? They give you a pretty large portion of about 5 doughnuts which was a ton and I didn’t finish the whole thing.

The small branded details around the restaurant such as the logo on the chairs and the amazing view of the springs, definitely added to the appeal of this restaurant. If you are looking for a great place to eat where the food is AMAZING, the drinks are really good and the ambiance is like your at your friends house, then I would say don’t walk, run to Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs. You will not regret it- just make sure you wear pants that expand because you will be so full when you leave!
