Are you looking for a delicious breakfast at Disney that is close to the parks? About 2 years ago, I visited The Wave… of American Flavors by accident. And it was a happy accident because the food was delicious. (To read more about this, click here.) But during my recent trip, we visited The Wave on purpose, for breakfast! I had heard some good things about their breakfast buffet so we booked a reservation.

The Wave… of American Flavors is located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. During this trip, we stayed at the Beach Club, so we took the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then walked over from there. This restaurant is also accessible via monorail. If you don’t normally head down to the lobby of the hotel, then you probably have missed seeing The Wave. It’s tucked beside the front desk and down a hallway. The waiting area is this really cool neon blue room that is in the shape of guess what, a wave! The Wave utilizes text service so once you check in, they take your cell number and text you once your reservation is ready.

The restaurant features simple decor that is not anything crazy. It’s pretty simple and features a dining room that is outlined with booths and tables in the middle.

For breakfast at The Wave, you have 2 options. You can either choose the breakfast buffet or choose an item a la carte. Both are covered as a table service meal on the dining plan and include an alcoholic beverage.

We chose the buffet option, which comes with coffee, the buffet and an alcoholic drink, i.e. Mimosas. Thanks to Disney Food Blog, I learned a little tip about the buffet at the Wave. There is no omelette station, but if you ask the waiter or waitress, you can get an omelette made in the kitchen and it’s included in the buffet and your Disney Dining Plan.

The buffet at The Wave included options that were both hot and cold. There were tons of pastries, scrambled eggs, frittatas, sausage, bacon, eggs benedict, Mickey Waffles, Sweet Potato Pancakes, fruit and more. Plus, as I mentioned you are able to get an omelette with ingredients of your choice. The omelettes at The Wave are HUGE and contain lots of delicious ingredients that you choose.

If buffets aren’t your thing, The Wave also offers a la carte breakfast items like Glazed Donut French Toast, Avocado Toast and Floridian Eggs Benedict. While I cannot offer my opinion on these, based on the taste of the food on the buffet, I am sure they are delicious.

All in all, I would absolutely come back here for breakfast. The food tasted delicious, had lots of different offerings and included a lot. The staff was also very friendly. I also think that buffets are generally a good use of table service credits because you can get a lot for your money, and this was no different.
