Disney Vacation Essentials

Every Walt Disney World Resort vacation requires planning of dinners, Fast Passes and most importantly, outfit and accessory choices. Here are some of my Disney vacation outfit and accessory essentials.

Minnie Ears

No Disney vacation is complete without one (or four) pairs of Minnie Ears. During my recent trip, I was still on the plane and put on my Minnie Ears. Disney has some really pretty ear choices, like the millennial pink sequined ones, the rose gold ears, the black and gold pair and the blue sparkle 2018 ears. Check out the Shop Disney Parks app before you go to scope out which ones you want and which stores sell them. A lot of small shops on Etsy sell unique pairs as well, so be sure to do some research. Fellow Disney Instagrammer, Ashley from Disney Awaits, has an Etsy shop and sells adorable ears. Check her out here.

Magic Bands

Dooney & Bourke Magic Band

Magic Bands are an important part of your WDW vacation. Those are essentially your “Keys to the Kingdom.” Your Magic Band opens your room door, allows you to charge purchases to the room and redeem your Fast Passes. When you make a reservation directly with Disney you can choose your Magic Band color (options are basic), wait until you arrive where you will receive a grey one or purchase a fun one. I purchased the Dooney and Bourke Walk in the Park Magic Band and it was so adorable! Head to the Disney website to see their full assortment of Magic Bands.

Magic Band Vinyls from Malibu Mermaid Co.

If you get one of the Magic Bands that are included with your booking, you can jazz it up yourself. You can either purchase the little add-on’s called Bandits from the Disney Store or purchase some fun stick on vinyls from Etsy. Check out Malibu Mermaid Co’s Etsy shop for customized Magic Band vinyls.

Disney Shirts

If your like me, you plan your outfits a month before you head to Disney and make sure they are on Disney point! The Disney Store has upped its merchandise game and come out with some really adorable shirts lately. If your looking for some unique ones, once again, head to Etsy. I purchased this shirt from the store greylittlearrows, and absolutely loved it! The quality was great and it was so accurate.

Crazy Corgi Lady

Another shirt that is perfect for any time of year, but especially during Flower and Garden are these Watercolor Floral Mickey shirts from CrazyCorgiLadyDesign- this shirt was so pretty and looked great with those millennial pink ears.

Backpack or Purse

Those day trips to the parks require some necessary items just in case. But you have to put them all somewhere right? You can purchase really cute crossbody bags or backpacks with Disney branding that are perfect for a day at the parks. I recently purchased and used the Dooney and Bourke Sketch Nylon Crossbody, which was very roomy. I recently purchased this  new Loungefly backpack and the new Rose Gold one that I had to purchase as soon as I saw it available on the Disney Store. Either way, these bags will be comfortable to wear all day, fit all of your essentials and keep you looking super cute.

Buttons & Pins

Whether you are totally into pin trading or just love to decorate with buttons, both are a must at Disney. You can head to Guest Services at the Park or to the check in desk at your hotel and ask for a button to show off whatever occasion you are celebrating. They have one’s for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and just generic celebration pins, which will be sure to get you some cast member love when your walking around the parks.  While buttons are fun to share special events, wearing pins around the park is something that people love to do. Pin trading is super popular and allows you to trade your unwanted pins for desirable ones with cast members and other guests. If you don’t want to pin trade, it’s fun to buy official Disney pins and decorate. But there are also some really cute pins on Etsy from small shops. This one from the Etsy shop, Malibu Mermaid Co, is perfect for a Starbucks lover that also loves Disney and Ariel (which is basically me).

My Disney Experience App

My Disney Experience App

As prepared as we can be with accessories and items, there is one essential that is easy to carry with you, the My Disney Experience App. Available for Apple & Android devices, this app makes planning and keeping track of your Disney vacation easy. On here, you can make dinner reservations, check attraction times, buy park tickets and annual passes, reserve FastPasses and even check bus wait times from your Disney resort hotel. This is honestly something I use before, during and after my Disney vacations. In addition to all of these features, you can also view any photos taken by PhotoPass photographers, on rides or with characters through the app. If you purchased Memory Maker, you can download them from here as well.

So there you have it…. 6 of my Disney Vacation Essentials. I’d love to hear if there are some other items you find essential or if you take some of these items too! Comment below and let me know!
