Explore the World (Showcase): What to do in the UK

Next up in our Explore the World (Showcase) series is the United Kingdom. Representative of a street in England, this pavilion features shopping and dining galore.

Landscape

The landscape in the UK pavilion makes you feel as if you’ve just headed across the pond. There are lots of buildings with cobblestone streets and tons of details. The decor takes you on a trip of the UK showcasing a busy street and smaller town.

Dining

The UK pavilion is home to not one, but two options for grabbing those famous fish and chips. If you are looking for a sit down experience, head to the Rose and Crown Pub, for an authentic UK pub experience with fish and chips, bangers and mash and Shepherd’s Pie. If you are looking for a quicker option, head over to the Yorkshire County Fish Shop for some delicious fish and chips with a refreshing beer.

On my last trip, I visited the Yorkshire County Fish Shop and it was really good. They serve your dish on newspaper for an authentic feel. The fish and chips also paired really nicely with the featured beer at Yorkshire County Fish Shop.

Attractions

Unlike some other pavilions, the UK doesn’t have a traditional attraction or video based on the country’s culture. They do have a really nice garden that you can walk through and musical entertainment.

Shopping

One thing that the UK pavilion does have is shopping. You can shop at The Crown and Crest, The Toy Soldier, Fancy Goods for Lords and Ladies, The Queen’s Table, The Sportsmans’ Shop and The Tea Caddy. Now for those of you who are fans of some popular UK shows, think Dr. Who and my favorite, Outlander, they do sell TV show merchandise in the store. As I said, Outlander, the show is a favorite of mine and they actually sold a bunch of shirts and souvenirs from the show. All of these stores sell authentic UK goods such as beer glasses, perfume and jewelry, among other items.

Character Meetings

A special character makes a special appearance in her home, the UK. Take one guess, “A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down.” Your right, it’s Mary Poppins! Mary stands off to the side of the pavilion across from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop. Check the location or the My Disney Experience App for specific character interaction times.

Special Events

During Flower & Garden, there are some special topiaries set up in this pavilion, such as Tinkerbell, Winnie the Pooh & Captain Hook, so be sure to check those out. Also during this festival, the Cider House takes up residence in this pavilion.

Representing the UK at the Food and Wine Festival is Ireland. This booth features favorites such as Irish Cheddar Cheese and Stout Dip and Warm Chocolate Pudding.

Well there is a look at the UK Pavilion. Be sure to check back for more in the Explore the World (Showcase) series.
